The problem
Locks rarely fail without warning. The key needs jiggling, the deadbolt needs a shoulder against the door, the knob turns loose. Then one cold morning the key snaps off in the cylinder.
Michigan weather is hard on hardware. Freeze-thaw cycles swell door frames, settle jambs, and throw strikes out of alignment, so the bolt grinds against the plate on every throw.
The instinct is to buy a new lock at a big-box store, but a new lock on a misaligned door will fail exactly the same way within a year.
How we fix it
We extract broken keys from cylinders without destroying the lock, then cut you a fresh working key from the remaining half or by decoding the cylinder.
We service and rebuild residential cylinders — cleaning, replacing worn springs and drivers — and repair latches, strikes, and handlesets that have stopped working properly.
Crucially, we fix the door as well as the lock: strike alignment, screw purchase into the stud, and reinforcement where the jamb has gone soft. That is what stops the fault coming back.

- 1Describe the symptomSticking key, loose knob, bolt that will not throw, key snapped in the lock — each points to a different fix.
